A funny way of walking | |
At the school called Brøndagerskolen 30 autistic children frequently use jump boots. At first glance the boots look dangerous, but you feel very secure having them on, Mette Buur points out.
The motorically weak children uses them with care and are training their balance. Others improve their physical condition when running and you can really take some long steps. Everybody is training coordination. Some of the children need help at first, but gain control fast, and glide into the funny walk. You dont fall easy as you do on roller skates and you dont twist your ancles, she says.
Mette Buur has not experienced an accident with the jump boots in the six months the school has used them. As a safety precaution the children do not use them outside although they could.
"Kangoo Jumps stimulate the children and give them a body experience that motivates them. And its a perfect variation in the daily training
